Maybe it's time for a standardization(ISO) to all Licensed OS's at large...is it possible?

If this kind of what was MS called "feature" will continue, many users will be hooked-up and will always wait for another SP releases(fix) from Microsoft. Hey MICROSOFT! we paid the right price for your application, give us your best as a complement then...

International Organization for Standardization(ISO) people maybe you can help and release fix for this too!

cheers!

Well, I had ths slow copy problem for a LONG time, the PS1 udate seemed to fix it to an extent.
Still runs 5-15% slower than on XP...
No I have problems deleting files...
I delete duplicate files that are NOT related to the system at all.
Think pictures from my camera, stored in many different folders over 3-4 drives.
Sometimes a folder of 5 gig will be deleted in 2-5 seconds.
Sometimes 10sec to 5 minutes.
Now I am seeing from 5 minutes to INFINITY...
After 2 hours I stop the Explorer process and restart it.
The progress bar in these cases never makes it all the way over, yet after restarting explorer, checking for those duplicate files that should be deleted, they are gone. HENCE they were in fact deleted, but the GRAPHIC displaying this fact seems to have been hung up.
I have even had this happen deleting 2 files from a directory.
2 hours later, they still display in the directory, until after I stop and restart explorer, and then they are gone.
I hope that the space on the HD is marked available, or else I will run into OUR OF SPACE errors, even though the drive says I have gigs free...

Trying to delete a folder with lots of files about 820 MB.

It's been cranking along now at 0 bytes/sec and says it wants to take another hour and 24 minutes to delete my freaking files.

What the hell is this piece of crap doing? It's easy to create the files in a flash but it takes forever to remove them, so it's obviosly archiving it somewhere even though I specifically did a shift+delete action.

For this the whole vista os can go into the recycle bin as far as i'm concerned now.

It seems the issue lies with how MANY files are to be copied. Not the size of the files. I only have one partition on this laptop and I run into the same problems...

For example: Extracting a ZIP with 600 small files (for a total of ~3mb) took around 10mins. Unacceptable. Now, copying 100mb file takes WAY less time. Extracting a larger file from a ZIP archive takes less than 2 mins on my machine.

I can do better than that, Toby.

Although it hasn't appeared on Windows Update yet, Microsoft has released an official fix for the problem. Get it ahead of it's WU debut (in 32-bit and 64-bit versions) here:

I have this problem moving files between folders on a mirrored raptor set, which is also the system drive.

One thing I have noticed is that after clicking move I can check the destination and the files are all there but the progress bar is still calculating. I can then click cancel and everything is fine...

Figure that one out.
